Get ready, Trainer! Pokémon GO is back with a bang with the arrival of the Mega Squad event . If you were left wanting more after the Mega Shutdown, this event is just what you need to give your team a boost and catch some creatures that have been waiting for us for a while.
From September 8th to 14th, the world will be filled with surprises, from the debut of Galar and Paldea Pokémon to a never-before-seen power-up mechanic for certain Mega Evolutions. So get your phone ready and get ready, because there's a lot to do and time flies.
New features in Mega Evolutions: The Super Max Level

The big news is that we can now take Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom beyond their usual limits. For the first time, these two Pokémon can reach their super max level , which is essentially the highest power ceiling for a Mega Evolution.
To achieve this milestone, simply Mega Evolving isn't enough. First, you need to reach level three (the standard maximum) and then use specific Mega Energy to power them up. If you want to quickly gather a lot of energy, the best strategy is to participate in Mega Raids featuring Weedle, Pidgey, Houndour, and Carvanha.
The best part about reaching this state is that it unlocks an additional charged attack whose damage scales with your megalevel:
- Mega-Beedrill: Learn Lethal Sting+In battles against other trainers, it deals 40 damage and raises attack by one stage; in raids, it increases to 140 damage.
- Mega-Houndoom: Now you can use Shadow Pulse+, which inflicts 60 damage in PvP and 150 damage in raids.
Maschiff and Mabosstiff debut

The event also serves as a red carpet for the arrival of Maschiff and its evolution Mabosstiff . These Dark-type Pokémon from the ninth generation have finally landed in the game. To catch them, you'll have to keep an eye on eggs, field research , or progress through the GO Pass.
Shiny Flamingo and Wild Appearances

If you like bright colors, you have to go for the Shiny Flamigo , which is making its official debut. The event also features a rotating spawn system that changes on Friday, September 11th at 10:00 AM. Until then, there will be more Shiny Pidgey , and from then on, the spotlight will shift to Shiny Carvanha.
To spice things up, we'll have two Spotlight Pokémon Hours with bonus candy for transfers: Thursday the 10th with Weedle, Kakuna and Beedrill, and Sunday the 13th with Houndour and Houndoom.
Field Research Tasks

The missions vary each day. The first set includes challenges like catching 10 Bug- or Flying-type Pokémon to find Weedle, Pidgey, or Fletchling, or hatching an egg to get a Flamigo. You can also spin PokéStops to get basic supplies like Poké Balls and Razz Berries.
Raid Calendar
Five-star raids are very powerful in this event. Until September 9, you can face Mega Regirock, Regice, and Registeel . Starting Friday the 11th, the focus shifts to Mega Beedrill and Mega Houndoom , while on Wednesday the 9th, Zacian Warrior Forme makes its debut.
The Mega Squadrons GO Pass
This progression system is available from September 8th to 14th. There's a free route that offers Rare Candies, Mega Energy, and Pokémon encounters. But if you want to go all out, the Deluxe route (€5,49 / $4,99) includes a Maschiff Sweater, Super Incubators, and a higher chance of encountering Shiny Pokémon.
Remember that there's a GO points system that you earn by completing tasks and winning Mega Raids. Reaching specific milestones (like rank 1 or 15) unlocks additional bonuses. You have until September 16 to claim all your rewards.
In short, this event is the perfect opportunity to power up your Mega-Pokémon to the max, meet the new dogs of Paldea, and fill your collection of Flamigos and other Shiny Pokémon while taking advantage of GO Pass rewards and Legendary Raids.
