Enjoying TV shows and movies on your mobile device has become one of the most popular activities for those seeking entertainment anytime, anywhere. While Netflix remains the most well-known option, more and more users are looking for alternatives to avoid relying solely on a paid platform or to discover fresh, free catalogs without hassle.
The rise of streaming apps for Android has brought with it a flood of free and paid services, many of which offer everything from live channels to classic films and international content that's hard to find on Netflix. If you want to know all the available options so you're never short of entertainment, here's a detailed and up-to-date guide, gathering information from the best sources on the internet.
Free streaming platforms: Discover real alternatives to Netflix for Android
You might not know it, but there's a long list of apps and services that let you watch series, movies, and live TV on your Android device for free . Many of them are also completely legal and you can easily install them from Google Play or their websites.
Since most free apps are ad-supported , keep in mind that you may encounter ads between episodes or during playback. However, the diverse catalog and lack of commitment make them an excellent option for those who don't want to be tied to a monthly subscription.
Pluto TV: More than 60 free channels without registration
Pluto TV has become one of the leading free platforms for those seeking content without paying, not even for an account. It arrived in Spain with an initial offering of 40 channels, but now you can enjoy more than 60 live channels and a selection of movies, series, sports, and entertainment.
No registration or personal data is required : simply download the Android app or access it from the web to start watching varied content, although you will have to watch ads interspersed.
The user experience is similar to traditional television, so you won't be able to pause, fast-forward, or rewind live TV . Additionally, you have the option to watch some channels or movies dubbed in Spanish, and there are almost always new additions to the catalog each month.
Tivify: DTT channels and premium options
Tivify stands out as another excellent option, especially for including over 80 free-to-air channels, including all of Spain's digital terrestrial television (DTT) channels. While its premium plan adds advanced features and exclusive channels, since 2024 it has offered a very attractive free plan for those who want live television without relying on antennas or tuners.
You need to create a free account, but in return you won't have ads or the limited resolution compared to the premium plan . This is especially useful if you have problems with your digital terrestrial television (DTT) signal or simply prefer a digital experience.
Rlaxx TV and Samsung TV Plus: Options with international channels
Rlaxx TV is a German platform that is gaining ground in the Spanish market, currently offering 27 free channels along with on-demand content. Although most of the films and series are in English, it's ideal for those looking to practice languages or discover less mainstream international productions.
On the other hand, Samsung TV Plus is available to anyone with a Samsung device (mobile phone, tablet, or television) . It offers more than 50 free channels with a diverse lineup that includes news, sports, music, movies, and children's programs. Furthermore, the app is usually pre-installed on Samsung devices, making it easy for users to access.

Rakuten TV: Free movies and series in exchange for ads
Although Rakuten TV started as a paid platform like Netflix, it has long included a free plan with a good selection of movies, documentaries, and children's series. The free catalog is different from that of premium users, and, similar to Pluto TV, you'll have to watch ads to access the content.
Vix: Latin American streaming without registration
Vix is an alternative for those looking for movies, series, and shows with a focus on Latin American culture , but it also includes international productions. The best thing about Vix is that it doesn't require registration or a subscription: you access, choose, and watch, just like on Pluto TV.
Its catalog is especially extensive in soap operas, entertainment programs, comedies, and family content, making it suitable for both adults and children.
Microchannels: A showcase of AMC Networks
Microchannels is the perfect way to explore some of AMC Networks' content without a premium subscription. Here you can access episodes from AMC, SundanceTV, Canal Hollywood, DARK, and more, although the free catalog is a limited selection.
The idea is to offer a taster so viewers can decide whether they want to jump to paid platforms or operators like Movistar+, Vodafone TV, Orange TV, or Euskaltel, where the rest of the content is available.
Free Netflix and YouTube: Options with Limited Access
Few people know this, but Netflix sometimes releases part of its catalog for free to non-subscribers , especially to promote new releases or original productions. However, the selection is very limited and changes depending on the platform's current campaign.
As for YouTube, it's possible to find complete movies and series in the public domain or uploaded under rights agreements , although the variety and quality tend to vary considerably. This platform also boasts a proliferation of live TV channels and creators who share their own or classic content.
Plex: All the content you can imagine and more
Plex started as an app for managing your home media library, but for the past few years it has also included free streaming of movies, TV shows, and documentaries. You can access thousands of titles from different countries, although most are in English or have subtitles.
RTVE Play, Mitele, and ATRESplayer: Free Spanish TV on your Android
For those looking to access live or on-demand national programming from their mobile phone , the official apps of the main Spanish audiovisual groups are the best choice.
- RTVE Play: Includes live broadcasts, programming from La 1, La 2, Teledeporte, Playz, and Canal 24 horas. Allows you to save content, download it for offline viewing, and access its own series, films, and documentaries.

If you're a fan of Asian cinema or anime, there are platforms focused on Japanese, Korean, Chinese, or international content rarely found on Netflix:
- Crunchyroll: Considered the world's leading anime platform, it offers hundreds of Japanese and other Asian series and films. It offers a free version with ads and a paid premium option for full, ad-free access.
- VikiKnown as the "Asian Netflix," it features a vast catalog of K-dramas, J-dramas, and Chinese films of all genres, as well as subtitles in several languages. No subscription is required for free basic access.
- iQIYI : A growing Chinese-based platform focused on Asian dramas and films with Spanish subtitles, including some advanced features such as downloads and offline viewing. Registration is only required to access the full catalog.
- Outrigger: An app that lets you watch movies and series from other platforms like Netflix, Disney+, or HBO for free, although it's only available by downloading its APK for Android, as it's not available on Google Play.
Sky Showtime and FlixOlé: Own catalog and classic films
Sky Showtime is one of the latest launches in Spain and presents itself as a paid alternative with thousands of hours of productions from studios such as Paramount, Universal Pictures, Nickelodeon, DreamWorks, Showtime, Peacock, and Sky Studios. They offer exclusive content, premieres, and iconic series such as Dexter, Twin Peaks, and Star Trek, as well as major sagas like Mission: Impossible and Jurassic Park.
On the other hand, FlixOlé stands out for its extensive catalog of classic Spanish, Italian, French, and Hollywood films . It also includes short films and festival selections, all at a very affordable subscription price, making it a gem for film lovers and movie history buffs.
Other lesser-known but useful services
In addition to the major platforms, there are other services that offer interesting features for those looking to customize their streaming experience on Android:
- microchannels: A showcase of AMC's premium content featuring single episodes, useful for discovering new series before subscribing.
- Plex and Rlaxx TV: They allow you to configure your own multimedia center, access international channels and have numerous customization options.
