Some years ago, Blackberry It was the favorite smartphone brand of both teenagers and executives. But little by little the terminals with this operating system gave way to the Android phones, so that the company was gradually losing weight.
And following the maxim of "if you can't beat the enemy, join him", Blackberry has just confirmed that the next devices of the brand, they will use Android as an operating system.
Blackberry makes way for Android
Blackberry had already launched Android phones
Last 2015, Blackberry already did what would have been unthinkable a few years ago: launch a smartphone that uses the Android operating system.
Thus, a few months ago, the BlackBerry PRIVATE, a highly criticized android phone, but also had many good things. In addition, the BlackBerry Vienna, another Android phone from the brand, could be the next to come out, using Google's operating system.
Confirmation from the company
In a recent interview by The Economic Times with Damian Tay, director of product management for Blackberry, the company's plans were clarified.
In it, the manager acknowledges that Blackberry's future is Android and therefore, the next smartphones that the brand brings to the market will work with the Google operating system. Efforts to work on their own system are, therefore, on the back burner.
Goodbye to BB10
Blackberry's strong commitment to Android means that its own operating system, BB10, it will stop monopolizing the company's efforts. We could therefore say that this operating system's days are numbered, since from now on it will be Google's system as the protagonist.
Why this bet on Android?
Blackberry's reason for betting on Android is basically that was running out of market share. Its phones were only useful for professionals and given the progress in Android applications of this type, it was also losing ground in that field.
Do you think Blackberry will be successful in launching Android phones? Or do you think that by not offering anything that differentiates itself from other manufacturers, it will be the end of the company? We invite you to tell us your opinion in the comments section at the bottom of the page.
