Doogee Titans 2 DG700, crocodile skin and ultra-resistance for €128

Design

Its design is completely different to what has been seen so far on android phones, since the entire device has a robust, almost military style.

Its dimensions are 141.7 x 72.4 x 13 mm. and weighs 227 grams, is just over a centimeter thick, transmitting a lot of security and allows the existence of a very powerful interchangeable internal battery. The sides of the device are made of metal and the buttons are reinforced with hard plastic with relief, so that holding it by hand is comfortable and at the same time it is difficult for it to slip, which adds more resistance.

On the back, it is very striking that the case has a finish similar to crocodile skin. We can see the 8MP camera and flash, which has an intensity 4 or 5 times higher than the usual LEDs in phones, so it works perfectly as a flashlight. Both elements are protected by a metallic finish. At the bottom of the case is the loudspeaker, also reinforced with metal.

On the left side are the volume up and down buttons, and on the right the power off/on/lock button and an extra button that we can configure as we want, so that when pressed it can take pictures or videos, open the mail, etc. .

Above, a cover protects the micro-usb input and the usual headphone jack.

On the front we have a 4,5″ screen with qHD resolution (540 × 960 pixels). We can also see the physical navigation buttons, which are not integrated into the screen; the speaker for calls, the 5 MP front camera, the notification LED and the different sensors.

The back cover is removable and we can access the battery and the slots for the two SIM cards , is dual SIM and for the microSD card, with which we can expand the internal memory of 8GB.

Processor and connections

Your CPU is a Quad Core 1,3Ghz and has 1GB of RAM memory, which will allow the entire system to move with sufficient fluidity.

It has Bluetooth 4.0, GPS, 3G, Wi-Fi, and all the other usual connections.

4.000 mAh battery and autonomy

The device's battery has a capacity of 4.000 mAh, which, as we mentioned, will allow us to use it intensively all day. The most striking thing is the possibility of charging other devices, through its USB OTG, as if it were a Powerbank. Also has fast charge with which we can recharge 50%, about 2.000 mAh, of the battery in just one hour.

Operating System

The Doogee Titans 2 DG700 has Android 4.4.2 KitKat, with a customization layer included by Doogee, where iron and plates abound, all very metal and that includes various extra functions:

– Configurable button

– Battery saving mode

– 3-finger tap to screenshot

– Smart gestures: Make a finger gesture on the locked screen to open an app.

– Other functions, such as interacting with the device without touching the screen or calling just by bringing it close to our face.

Video, unboxing and first impressions

In the following video, you will be able to see the unpacking – “unboxing” and the first impressions of the Doogee Titans 2 DG700 with the contents of the box, in which we find the phone, a spare screen protector, an OTG cable, the power charger connector, a usb-micro usb cable, some headphones and an instruction manual.

Conclusions

With a different look than what we are used to from Samsung, LG or Sony... bringing together in the same design and equal parts elegance, aggressive appearance and great metal and leather finishes, it is perfect for athletes or for users who want to have a device with a powerful and risky design. In addition to being ultra-resistant, it has IP67 certification, with a great autonomy of 4.000 mAh and a very reasonable price.

If you are interested in this device, you have it for €127,65 (2-2-2015) at:

  • Doogee Titans 2 DG700 (discontinued)

And you, what do you think of this android phone? Do you like its aggressive yet elegant design? If the super hero Ironman had an android smartphone, he would surely choose this one, since he will withstand all the blows, blows and cakes that he is used to in his adventures.
Very good impression upon receipt but with the slightest splash of water the screen develops moisture stains, embarrassing… EMBARRASSING!!! A REAL DECEPTION, IT DOES NOT TOLERATE OR SPLASHES, A LOT OF PRESENCE BUT NOTHING ELSE, next Monday it goes into return, misleading advertising and lies.
Well, if I tell you that it rained and snowed on mine and not exactly a little, a damp spot on the screen and so on, nothing, besides using the touch screen with the screen fully wet, taking photos and videos….
I would like to know what the screen is like, if it is protected in some way like the rest of the phone. I drop them very often and all of them end up breaking the touch part and the screen and you can't even recover the information. Can you comment on how resistant the screen is? Thank you
In the video we commented that the screen is protected by the metal edge of the frame. It is a harder screen than the normal ones, although as usual, if you have a falling skill on a vertex or stone, it will depend on the strength of the blow. This mobile is owned by a friend who works outdoors and at heights and he tells me that he is happy with it, that it goes very well and in some falls he has not had a problem because of how robust it is.

Just a little question, why the hell do they give an urban design to an off-road phone? why the similar skin and others?... if you want a posh city phone you buy any of the thousands of models that there are but when you look for a phone with these features you expect it to have reinforcements so that it bounces off the corners and extra grip all over the phone… in short, a pity with the features it has.
