These two devices will fight alongside the rest of smartphones for the award for best mobile phone of 2015 and they have a good chance of winning. Both of them devices mark an important change in the strategy of Samsung, especially in design, where they have opted for more premium, although without neglecting all the hardware, where they have included one of the most powerful processors today, one of the best (if not the best) camera on the market, a renewed fingerprint sensor...

Design

One of the aspects where Samsung has innovated the most and, although it is something personal, we dare to say that they have done it really well.

The inclusion of aluminum on the edges and the rear glass give a much more premium feel than the previous one. Galaxy S5, which received abundant negative criticism regarding the design and aesthetics, especially the back cover and its new micro-perforated texture. But not everything is positive, and it is that the new design has eliminated the resistance to water and becomes unibody, so we will not be able to open it to change the battery or insert a MicroSD. Of course, being unibody allows a thickness of only 6,8mm.

Let's go with a quick review of the entire device:

On the right side, we have the on/off button next to the card tray nanoSIM and on the other side, the left, we only see the volume up/down buttons.

In the upper part there is a microphone, which will serve as a noise canceler during our calls, and the infrared port to control a television, speaker or any other device compatible with this technology.

Below we have the microUSB input and another for the headphones, microphone and speakers, which are no longer in the back.

From behind, we have the camera 16 SM and the led flash, accompanied by the heart rate sensors.

At the front we find hardly any visual differences compared to previous models: 5.1-inch SuperAMOLED screen with 2K resolution, multitasking and back buttons, and the home button that will serve as a fingerprint reader. Also, the front camera, the notification LED and the different light sensors, proximity...

Processor and RAM

Samsung has put aside Qualcomm and its Snapdragon to bet on its own processors. In this case, a Exynos 7420 octa-core 64-bit. It is made up of 4 cores of 2,1 GHz, which will work when high performance is needed, and another 4 of 1,5 GHz, which will activate when not much power is required.

The Galaxy S6 has a 4G LTE connection, in this case category 6.

In addition, it is accompanied by 3 GB of RAM.

On paper, it promises great performance, we will see later how it behaves in real use.

Operating system and internal memory

How could it be otherwise, the Samsung Galaxy S6 works on Android Lollipop, En of version 5.0.2 with TouchWiz UI, Samsung's customization layer to which we are already accustomed.

As for memory, there are good and not so good news. Best of all, they have eliminated 16 GB from the market, starting directly with 32 GB and going up to 128 GB. The negative point is that they have eliminated the microSD card slot, so we will not be able to expand the external memory.

Cameras

Not only have Samsung worked on design, they have also paid a lot of attention to their cameras, and it shows. The rear is 16 MP, with f/1,9 aperture (the smaller the number the better), optical stabilization, 4K video recording and incredible focus and capture speed. The results are excellent, and as we said in the introduction, this may be the best smartphone camera this year.

Battery and wireless charging

Samsung has decided to include a 2550 mAh battery, and it seems that it will give very good results, since despite "despite" having a QHD screen, the new memory and the 14nm processor promise to reduce energy consumption, although this is something that we will talk about in a future article, when we have tested it further.

We must also take into account fast charging and wireless charging. The latter will make the charging process much more comfortable, as there are no cables involved.

Well, this has been all, although we will try to bring another article as soon as possible in which we will tell you about the experiences of use, after some time of use with it.
