When we see the message “Insufficient disk space”, the first thing we look for is to delete some applications. This step is very good, but what happens if we need all the apps? We can use Google Photos and its “free up space on this device” function, considering that the files that this service stores are also very large. Let's see how it works and how it benefits us.
How to free up disk space using Google Photos
Google Photos is a storage service offered by Google to save multimedia files and share them. Its free storage capacity is 15 GB, but this amount is divided between all the big G services such as Gmail, Drive, among others.
If you do not have the Google Photos Premium service, you can take advantage of one of its benefits: allows you to free up space on your device with the push of a button. What it does is delete all content in the app and yes we have it, but first you must make a Backup, previously refined to delete requested photos, poorly taken videos, files that you no longer want, among others.
Once this is done, go to the Google Photos home screen and tap your account profile photo located in the upper right corner of the screen. Various configuration options will be displayed, tap where it says «free up space on this device«.
A new window will appear with information regarding the backup and that the files can be seen in Google Photos. Once confirmed, press the blue button at the bottom indicating how much space you are going to free up.
When doing this, you should know that Google Photos will save the files with a much lower quality and you want it in its original state, you must change this parameter in the settings. Start carrying out this task of purifying your photos and videos to optimize the space and take advantage of it according to your possibilities.
