Google Translate gets dark mode support on Android and iOS

Google recently started rolling out dark mode in the Google Translate app, Google Translate, for iOS devices. And now, the software giant is also gradually bringing the same to Android devices.

However, unlike Android, dark mode in Google Translate is widely available on iPhones right now.

Keep in mind that the dark mode saves battery on OLED screens. Whatsapp Beta and its dark mode have already arrived on Android. Also in Instagram, And in older android phones. It should not be surprising that Google application developers seek to apply dark mode to all applications in its app ecosystem.

Google Translate supports dark mode on Android and iOS

A recent article on 9to5Google suggests that an Android user from Poland has dark mode in version 6.5 of the Google Translate app. However, this appears to be a limited server-side deployment and so may not be available on your Android phone at this time.

Dark mode hasn't been implemented on Android phones in many countries at least, but the black-adorned splash screen on one of our Redmi K20 units may be an indication.

This update is not yet extended, only for some specific users

Updates by the Google server usually take a considerable amount of time and therefore you will have to wait for some time to enter the dark side of Google Translate. Before that, make sure you have updated to the latest version available on the Google Play Store so that you can start using dark mode as soon as it is available on your device.

Like other Google apps, the dark theme for the Google Translate app is implemented in such a way that it respects the system-wide dark mode toggle. Unlike Google's other dark mode apps, the implementation in Translate seems a bit rough with imperfect text color and comparatively washed-out background colors, which explains why it hasn't yet been widely implemented for everyone.

We expect Google to quickly add the finishing touches on its Google Translate dark mode implementation to align with other Google apps with dark mode support, considering how long we've waited for this.
