How to use the Google Assistant this Valentine's Day

Just in time for Valentine's Day, Google released a new way to use the Assistant to start the romance.

Google has also posted a list of ways to use the Assistant to ensure this Valentine's Day works the way you (or your partner) planned.

Hey Google, turn on love

In a publication On its blog, Google explains the many and varied ways that the Assistant can help you make your Valentine's Day go smoothly in love. The post was written by someone named Olive U. Somuch, who is clearly a real person and not just a made up name in honor of Valentine's Day.

The title feature uses Google Assistant to "transform your home from forgettable to festive." All you need to say is "Hey Google, turn up the love." Doing so will cause the Assistant to play soft jazz music and the color-changing lights to turn red and purple.

This works with an "assistant-enabled smart speaker or smart display, like [the] Nest Hub Max," and is available in English worldwide. However, even if you don't own a compatible device, there are other ways to use Google Assistant on Valentine's Day.

Google lists several different ways to use the Assistant on Valentine's Day. This includes, "Hey Google, play romantic music," "Hey Google, show romantic dinner recipes," "Hey Google, serenade me," and "Hey Google, directions to a florist near me." All this in English, in Spanish we will have to try that day to see how it goes.

How to use AI for love

This is a timely reminder of how powerful Google Assistant is, even when it comes to love, the most human of emotions. However, Assistant isn't the only AI capable of helping couples bond.

If you're single (or single) this Valentine's Day, don't worry, we haven't forgotten you. While other people spend their money on impersonal tokens of love, you can curl up on the couch and watch one of these Valentine's singles movies.
